Aimé Leon Dore is pulling double duty on the number 993, as it’s designed both a custom Porsche and a New Balance sneaker bearing the same name.

The Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 993 Made in USA has been made to match the custom Porsche 993 Turbo made in promotion of a broader collection. Forest green graces the majority of the suede, leather and mesh sneaker — the same color used for the car’s body. Gold branding hits, as well as the sockliner, match that of the vehicle’s own, while more scant detailing brown serves as a link to the Porsche’s interior. Although only a few photos of the sneaker has been shared, it also appears that ALD’s signature floral logo will grace the heel.

Aimé Leon Dore is about as familiar with Porsche as it is New Balance. The New York City based label has produced dozens of sneakers since it began working with New Balance in 2019, and it’s now showing its fourth bespoke restoration of a Porsche in a partnership that began in 2020. Teddy Santis, ALD’s founder, has also been the creative director of New Balance’s Made in USA line since 2021.

With the Aimé Leon Dore x Porsche capsule just a day away from releasing, details of the collection are still relatively sparse. Lookbook images do, however, show items including jackets, sweaters, hats and even jeans.

The Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 993 Made in USA is expected to release alongside the larger Porsche capsule Friday, November 22, through Aimé Leon Dore’s website and stores. Porsche Design of America and its Beverly Hills store will also have select items from the collection, and the 993 Turbo at hand will be on display November 22 and 23 at ALD’s flagship store. Pricing for the sneakers has yet to be announced, but the 993 Made in USA typically retails for $200 or more.

Kar L’Art De L’Automobile Two Nike Air Force 1 Low Sneakers Are Only for Friends and Family https://footwearnews.com/shoes/sneaker-news/kar-l-art-de-l-automobile-nike-sneaker-collaboration-1203687384/ Wed, 11 Sep 2024 16:23:23 +0000 https://footwearnews.com/?p=1203687384

Update: September 17, 2024 at 10:45 a.m. ET

After teasing its debut sneaker collaboration with Nike, Kar L’Art De L’Automobile has announced the project consists of two Nike Air Force 1 Lows that are exclusively for friends and family.

An all black version features a carbon fiber Swoosh, while the other bears a resemblance to chameleon car paint jobs with its dark green modeled after L’Art’s Porsche 968 collaboration from 2021. The all-black pair features a special badge for the automotive lifestyle label on the heel, and the other features the Nike Air logo in green with “L’Art” replacing the word “Air,” as well as an embossed 968 on the lateral toe tip.

What We Originally Reported on September 11, 2024

Kar L’Art De L’Automobile is deepening its Nike relationship with its first sneaker collaboration with the Swoosh.

The automotive lifestyle label teased its Nike sneaker debut on Instagram Tuesday with an image of the insoles and box from the forthcoming collaboration. The former bears the image of L’Art’s Porsche 968 collaboration from 2021, which gave the car a reshaped body for its 30th anniversary, and the vehicle’s green shade matches the dual-logo for the two new collaborators. While no details of what shoe is actually involved can be gleamed from the image, the co-branded box calls out a 10th anniversary.

Kar L’Art De L’Automobile is the clothing label spinoff from Kar L’Art De L’Automobile, a used luxury automotive dealership based in Paris. Named for founder Arthur Kar, Kar launched as a clothing line in 2017 and has occasionally dabbled in sneakers through collaborations with Salomon and Vans. Its most recent sneaker drop was a duo of Salomon sneakers modeled after the legendary Porsche 911 GT1-98 that finished first and second at the 1998 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Kar’s first linkup with Nike came this spring by way of Drake’s Nocta line with a run of jackets, hoodies, pants, T-shirts and a hat.

In the year Kar launched, its founder told Highsnobiety: “The brand is the result of over 10 years of influence of the three worlds and industries I have been evolving in. As a car specialist and an active fashion and art enthusiast, I was often wondering how to mix these passions of mine through the creative process. …I think anyone can relate to it, because it’s not just a car on a T-shirt, the products will remind you of your own experience with cars, and every place and emotion related to it. From being taken to school as a kid, on highways, at gas stations, car washes, at the mechanics or even on a race for some of us …that’s what these visuals are.”

No further details for Kar L’Art De L’Automobile’s Nike sneaker have been revealed, but more information should come in the near future. Footwear News will keep you abreast of any updates.

Puma and Porsche Announce New Collection Celebrating 50th Anniversary of Porsche 911 Turbo https://footwearnews.com/shoes/sneaker-news/puma-x-porsche-911-turbo-anniversasry-collection-1203670520/ Tue, 30 Jul 2024 17:38:46 +0000 https://footwearnews.com/?p=1203670520

German powerhouses Puma and Porsche have teamed again up to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the famous Porsche 911 Turbo. The new collection features a range of products including several pairs of shoes inspired by the retro sports car.

Puma describes the collection, “‘The Legend of Turbo’ is more than just a fashion line; it’s a celebration of 50 years of legacy, love, and memories passed down through generations. The collection tells the story of these generations through its cast, from the proud owner of his very own Porsche 911 to the little boy who dreams of owning one someday.”

Two of the sneakers feature a tartan pattern, drawing inspiration from the interior of the first Porsche 911 Turbo, which debuted in 1974. One option is offered in a rich red hue with a matching Formstrip while the plaid pattern is displayed on the toe; the other tartan shoe is white while the pattern is on the side of the shoe surrounding a black Formstrip.

Additional shoes include an all-white sneaker as well as a white sneaker with a dark leather Formstrip. All of the shoes include Porsche branding displayed on the side and on the tongue.

The collection also includes twill jackets and flannel shirts. Puma says of the products, “This collection blends nostalgia with modern style, making it perfect for both Porsche enthusiasts and fashion-forward individuals.”

The two iconic German brands have an ongoing relationship, often teaming up to combine their respective talents. The 911 Turbo has been honored with a variety of shoes, including a recent yellow and black sneaker made alongside NBA star LaMelo Ball. Back in 2020, the car inspired eight shoes that came in shades paying tribute to original Porsche colors. Puma has partnered several times with Porsche Design, with some of their collaborations including sustainably crafted sneakers.

Kar L’Art De L’Automobile and Salomon Have Made Two Sneakers Celebrating 24 Hours of Le Mans https://footwearnews.com/shoes/sneaker-news/kar-lart-de-lautomobile-salomon-le-mans-release-date-2024-1203650771/ Tue, 11 Jun 2024 18:00:03 +0000 https://footwearnews.com/?p=1203650771

With the 92nd 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race beginning Saturday, Salomon is joining forces for the second time with L’Art De L’Automobile, the luxury car dealer with a more far-reaching merch arm that adds the “Kar” suffix.

The Kar L’Art De L’Automobile x Salomon XT-4 and Speedcross 3 will release ahead of the weekend with red, white and blue color schemes inspired by the legendary race. The XT-4 is the more white dominant of the two sneakers but features blue flame detailing to match the Porsche 911 GT1-98 that appears in the collection’s campaign. “Kar” branding replaces the “Lab” on the Salomon Lab toe logo, while “L’Art De L’Automobile” is printed in gold on the tongue’s nylon webbing. Salomon’s name is also rendered in gold on the red TPU overlay.

A blue and red gradient mesh forms the base of the Speedcross 3, which then gets white and gold TPU reinforcements. A different “Kar” mark is stamped onto the toe, and “L’Art” is slapped in gold atop the tongue’s usual branded nylon webbing.

The Porsche 911 GT1-98 finished first and second at the 1998 Le Mans race to give Porsche its record-breaking 16th win at the event. A graphic featuring the car with custom decals also appears on a T-shirt releasing alongside the sneakers.

Kar L’Art De L’Automobile and Salomon collaborated for the first time in 2022 on the ACS Pro Advanced in two bright colorways, one in blue and pink and the other in green, orange and yellow.

The Kar L’Art De L’Automobile x Salomon XT-4 and Speedcross 3 will release Friday, June 14, through the former party’s website. Pricing for the sneakers has not yet been announced.

Porsche and Puma Model LaMelo Ball’s MB.03 Sneaker After the 911 Turbo https://footwearnews.com/shoes/sneaker-news/porsche-puma-mb-03-911-turbo-release-date-february-2024-1203590514/ Wed, 14 Feb 2024 16:57:16 +0000 https://footwearnews.com/?p=1203590514

Puma and Porsche are teaming up for a collection to celebrate the iconic 911 Turbo and 2024 NBA All-Star host city Indianapolis’ relationship with the automotive industry.

LaMelo Ball’s MB.03 sneaker, as well as the All-Pro Nitro, take on a gold and black colorway inspired by the car series that’s been in production since 1964. A number of special graphics are added for the collaboration, including a Porsche logo and lightning bolt on the heel, a Porsche Turbo logo at the bottom of the tongue and a speedometor mark at the top of the tongue.

Along with the sneakers, Porsche and Puma will also release “six apparel variations” across hoodies, jackets, graphic T-shirts, sweatpants and shorts.

The MB.03, Ball’s third and latest signature sneaker, features a NitroFoam midsole and lightweight, breathable monomesh upper featuring a torn motif as its signature design element. Past collaborations on the sneaker have included “Dexter’s Laboratory” and Ball’s own LaFrance label.

The All-Pro Nitro, another Puma basketball shoe launched last year, also features NitroFoam cushioning as part of a dual-layered sole unit with targeted zones for security and comfort.

The Porsche x Puma collection will release Saturday, Feb. 17, through the websites of both parties, Porsche Design stores, Puma’s New York City flagship, Foot Locker and Kids Foot Locker. Pricing ranges from $45 to $175, with the MB.03 priced at $135 and the All-Pro Nitro at $140.

This Porsche-Inspired Nike SB Dunk Low Is Reportedly Releasing in 2021 https://footwearnews.com/shoes/outdoor-footwear/nike-sb-dunk-low-pink-pig-release-info-porsche-1203077648/ Tue, 24 Nov 2020 15:23:13 +0000 https://footwearnews.com/?p=1203077648 Nike SB is reportedly giving car enthusiasts a new Dunk Low to look forward to in 2021.

Sneaker-leaking social media account @zSneakerheadz unveiled a first look on Instagram yesterday of the Nike SB Dunk Low “Pink Pig,” which is reportedly inspired by the Porsche 917/20 supercar used during the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in 1971 of the same name.

The look is executed with a tonal pink upper that’s constructed entirely of premium suede except for the tongue, which is made of breathable mesh. Additional elements include matching pink shoelaces, red Nike branding at the tongue and heel tab, and contrasting red stitching throughout the upper’s panels and Swoosh logo on the sides. Aside from the monochromatic color scheme, the signature prints found on the body of the car did not carry over to the upcoming style. Capping off the look is a clean white midsole and a black rubber outsole.

Although @zSneakerheadz revealed that the Nike SB Dunk Low “Pink Pig” will hit shelves in early 2021, the launch details have not yet been confirmed by Nike SB.

In related news, the iconic Nike Dunk earned the 2020 Shoe of the Year nod from FN and will be honored next month at the first-ever virtual FN Achievement Awards. The basketball-turned-lifestyle model made its retail debut in 1985 and it had one of its biggest resurgences ever this year. Popularity was largely fueled by the return of classic styles as well as new iterations created in collaboration with rap megastar Travis Scott and ice cream company Ben & Jerry’s.

Puma and Porsche Have New Shoes Coming — and You Have 2.7 Seconds to Get Them https://footwearnews.com/shoes/outdoor-footwear/porsche-puma-shoes-911-turbo-release-info-1203073843/ Thu, 12 Nov 2020 21:45:36 +0000 https://footwearnews.com/?p=1203073843 Update: Nov. 12, 2020 at 4:45 p.m. ET

At the start of the week, Porsche teased a new collection of shoes with Puma that are inspired by the 911 Turbo, and to get a pair you would have to act fast because the pre-sale lasted for just 2.7 seconds. Today, the German athletic footwear brand revealed the eight looks that will be featured.

The line is divided into two collections: “Air-Cooled” and “Water-Cooled.” The Puma Future Rider was used for the “Air-Cooled” looks, which represent the first four generations of air-cooled 911 Turbos: Type 930 3.0 L and 3.3 L, Type 964 and Type 993. The Puma Speedcat was used for the “Water-Cooled” sports cars: Type 996, 997, 991 and 992.

According to Puma, there will only be 500 pairs of each design made and are executed in colors that tie to original Porsche hues including Riviera Blue, Guards Red, Saffron Yellow Metallic and GT Silver Metallic.

The shoes will come with a $150 price tag and will be available on Nov. 17 online via Puma.com and Porsche-design.com. Also, pairs can be purchased in store at the Puma flagship store in New York, at the Porsche Design stores in Los Angeles, Miami and Houston, and at the Porsche Experience Centers in Atlanta and L.A.

What We Originally Reported on Nov. 10, 2020

Porsche has a new line of Puma shoes inspired by the 911 Turbo on the way — and if you want a pair, you better act fast.

The German high-performance car manufacturer — in what its calling “the world’s fastest sneaker pre-release” — is set to deliver shoes inspired by the 911 Turbo via Porsche-design.com. There is a countdown clock on the e-commerce platform now, and when it hits zero a buy button will appear that will last for just 2.7 seconds. The time is significant because its how long it takes for the 911 Turbo to go from 0 to 60 mph.

The pre-sale is scheduled for Nov. 16. The release of the shoe is Nov. 17.

However, there’s much more time for you to pay for your shoes. Porsche said after selecting the sneakers during the pre-sale that customers have to buy them within 15 minutes to complete the order.

This limited-edition collection of Puma shoes, according to Porsche, feature nods to the 911 Turbo including colorways inspired by popular period-specific paint colors and elements such as the iconic rear wing, lightbars, interiors and body lines.

Although Porsche announced the line, it did not reveal the sneaker models it has reimagined. And on the website, the eight shoes are blurred out, only revealing the color palettes.

Additionally, the pre-orders will come with a limited-edition poster inspired by the collection.

Porsche Design has been a Puma partner since 2019 and the two have delivered several high-end sneakers with performance in mind. The last silhouettes were released in August, a trio of shoes using the German sportswear brand’s new Xetic cushioning technology: Xetic M, Xetic M Shift and Xetic L.
