Fashion fans and theater fans rejoice: “The Devil Wears Prada” has been adapted into a musical with melodies composed by Elton John. The musical’s production on the West End had its premiere on Dec. 1. at the Dominion Theatre in London as part of a charity night gala supporting the Elton John AIDS Foundation. Vanessa Williams, who plays Miranda Priestly in the production, displayed a couple of bold footwear looks last night with red slingback pumps and later a pair of black heeled sandals.

The event was certainly a who’s who of the fashion industry, with Donatella Versace, Betsey Johnson and Anna Wintour all present. Hollywood stars also dressed up for the event — Lily Collins made a statement in a glittering Vivienne Westwood dress and beige heeled sandals while Luke Evans looked dapper in patent black loafers and a crisp black jacket.

“The Devil Wears Prada” first came onto the scene as a book written by Lauren Weisberger after she served as an assistant to Anna Wintour at Vogue. The story was adapted into the popular 2006 film of the same name starring Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep, and now the tale can be beheld as a live performance. With Elton John responsible for the music, the stage adaptation also features lyrics by Shaina Taub and Mark Sonnenblick and a book by Kate Wetherhead.
