Angel Reese arrived at the 38th annual Footwear News Achievement Awards in an outfit that emphasized her standing as the year’s Style Influencer. With her hair done in bombshell curls featuring wispy bangs, the WNBA star offered fans a suited spin on her often-sexy style.
The athlete wore a tuxedo style suit with satin detailing from the brand Area. The trousers featured cutouts at the thigh. In the place of a blouse, Reese wore a black corset with sheer panels. The look was styled by Jermaine Daley.
For shoes, Reese went simple. She wore a pair of stiletto sandals. The shoes featured a pointed toe as well as a crystal-embellished strap across the top of the foot. It is Gianvito Rossi‘s Montecarlo sandal. That shoe sports a stiletto heel of just over four inches. In October, Rihanna wore a new iteration of the shoe with a leopard print sole. Yasmin Feeney also just wore the shoe to the Fashion Awards put on by the British Fashion Council.

This all goes in line with Reese’s typical personal style. She counts the likes of style mavens Rihanna and Zendaya as inspiration off the court in addition to Sheryl Swoopes and Lisa Leslie on the court.
“Fashion is such a creative outlet for me, so it’s about taking those influences and reimagining them in ways that represent my own journey,” she told FN earlier this year. This has manifested itself in a series of tall, often sexy heels. For the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show she wore a pair of strappy Gianvito Rossi sandals. it was the company’s Metropolis silhouette.
You might think this would mean that Reese, who is a face of Reebok, is at home in high styles. But in a recent interview on her podcast she asked Law Roach for tips on navigating in the precarious silhouettes.
“I hate heels,” she said. “In them, my feet always hurt. What’s the most comfortable heel for you to wear, or even for Zendaya?” she asked. Roach quickly warned her that Zendaya’s feet had been trained to the Christian Louboutin So Kate, a notoriously difficult pump, and that it likely wasn’t the shoe for her. Instead he suggested simply wearing her own heels around the house to get her ankles strong enough to handle it with ease.
For 38 years, the annual FN Achievement Awards — often called the “Shoe Oscars” — have celebrated the style stars, best brand stories, ardent philanthropists, emerging talents and industry veterans. The 2024 event is supported by sponsors Listrak, Marc Fisher, Nordstrom and Vibram.
